I absolutely LOVED the book, Life of Pi, written by Yann Martel. Now, this sensational book and Academy Award Winner movie from the same title is presented in a truly fantastic play on stage now at the Providence Performing Arts Center through Sunday, February 16, 2025!
I had the chance to see it last night and it was simply jaw-dropping good! The story revolves around a boy names Pi, who is the sole human survivor when a cargo ship goes down in the Pacific Ocean. With a life boat and the most unlikely companion, a tiger named Richard Parker, they have to go through a journey of survival that is both physical and spiritual. The journey is one that is visually stunning with puppet wizardry that I have never seen before in a production. At the end, the audience was left with questions of what really happened on that journey and a lot of interpretations can be thought of. This 2 hour, 10 minute play is absolutely one that should not be missed at the PPAC! The acting is simply incredible leaving the audience to stand at their feet even before the bows began!
It is the winner of three Tony Awards, and it has been called “one of the most visually stunning shows I have ever seen” by Time Out and “a wonder to behold” by Entertainment Weekly. Its world-class puppetry has been described as “the single greatest innovation in puppetry ever to hit the global stage” by the New York Daily News.
Told with the most amazing visuals, world class puppetry and exquisite stagecraft, this Broadway touring show is a visual stunning journey that will leave you talking long after you leave the theater. You have to see it, to believe it!

Life of Pi is playing tonight at 7 pm, Thursday night Feb 13 at 7 pm, Friday Feb 14 at 7:30 PM, Saturday Friday 15th at 2 and 8 PM, and Sunday February 16th at 1 and 630 PM.
