Every year, my family visits Hersheypark. It is something we have been doing since the kids were very young, and we all absolutely LOVE it! This is one family vacation or staycation that I recommend time and time again! Hersheypark is fun for kids and adults of all ages! Visiting Hersheypark is something everyone should do at least once. This theme park devoted to exciting rides and all things Hershey Candy, located in Pennsylvania, is the largest in the state and one of the largest in the region, and it’s an absolute ton of family fun. We should know. We’ve been there several times over the years.
If you’ve read my blog for any length of time, you know I’m a proud Rhode Islander, and being a Rhode Island family, we’re able to take advantage of wonderful Hersheypark whenever we have the free time to do so. This summer marked yet another visit to the park for me and my family, and it was full of just as much family-friendly fun, exciting rides, and good times as it has been on every other trip. It’s one of the best places for families in the upper Northeast, and its location makes it easily accessible to anyone in the area or travelers visiting it.
About Hersheypark
It’s no wonder this park is so devoted to family fun. It was actually originally created by Milton S. Hershey as leisure grounds for employees of the company, giving them and their families a place to relax, reconnect, and recharge from the stresses of life – something it still does today. Today, what started as a small leisure area for employees has transformed into a massive, family-friendly destination boasting 15 roller coasters, a huge water park, and tons of Hershey candy-themed activities. With rides, splashy fun, and chocolate, it’s the best of everything for every family member. We certainly love it every time we go!

The Water Park
Of course, in the summer, water is always a family’s best friend, and Hersheypark has you covered there, too. They have an 11-acre water park located right inside the park itself! This sprawling, splashy getaway has splash pads, a wading area, a laid-back lazy river, and plenty of water slides with tons of speed and heart-pounding drops!
Seasonal Activities
Visiting Hersheypark at certain times of the year also affords visitors the opportunity take advantage of seasonal activities and events at the park. Their Hersheypark Halloween event offers a full two months of park exploration, haunted experiences at Dark Nights, and, of course, a trick-or-treat trail featuring, you guessed it, Hershey candy. During the holiday season, you can enjoy family rides and coasters, hot chocolate, a sea of twinkling Christmas lights, and a visit with Santa and his reindeer at Christmas Candylane.
You’ll also enjoy a variety of summer activities and programs, along with education days that offer an educational look into parts of the park, such as the mechanics and math behind some of the fastest and most thrilling rides in the park.
Hershey’s Chocolate World
Of course, when you’re talking about visiting Hersheypark, you HAVE to include Hershey’s Chocolate World. It offers an interactive peek into the world of this famous chocolate with a chocolate tour ride, stage show, trolley tour, and even the opportunity to create your own candy bar!
Put Hersheypark on Your Travel List
I covered rides, the water park, and the seasonal activities you can enjoy when you visit Hersheypark, but there’s so much more to discover!
