Downton Abbey: A New Era releases on DVD and Blu Ray on July 5 and on Digital HD from Amazon Video and iTunes on July 7th! As a huge Downton fan, I have watched the series twice, watched the first movie a few times, and attended the exhibit in NYC with high tea. So I will say all in all, I am a HUGE fan of the Downton Abbey series.
I will also say I loved this movie so much. While I liked the original movie, this movie in my eyes far surpassed the first one. The concept of the movie and the setting of the movie was extraordinary. Julian Fellowes reunites the beloved cast as they go on a grand journey to the South of France to uncover the Dowager Countess’ newly inherited villa. The story revolves around a movie(within a movie) taking place at the mansion with high caliber actors and a plot that involves the servants guest starring. Along the way there is other subset storylines that make this Downton one of the best. You are forewarned that the end is sad but it wrapped up beautifully. For any Downton fan like me, this is the a movie that will pull on the strings of your heart. It is so well done and fantastically crafted. The movie comes in at about 120 minutes and is rated PG.
