Once Upon a Snowman starts with the famous and beloved song, Let It Go! In this Disney + short, we learn the story of who Olaf really is and how his life started. Olaf was such a beloved character in both Frozen movies that this short tells more about him in a funny and heart warming way.
Olaf realizes that while he is a snowman, he is also alive. He first line is I can talk, I can think, I can juggle. He realizes that he is a snowman and has to find out who he is. He realizes he is made of snow but he didn’t understand how he came to be like that. He needs a sense of self.
He is looking for a nose from Oaken’s shop and the scene is quite funny with him trying on various noses. Finally he gets a nose of sausage and all the wolves are all over him. He ends up giving his nose to a friendly wolf who befriends him. From this, he realizes he is Olaf and he likes warm hugs. So starts the whole Frozen franchise.
This film is simply adorable. It is around 8 minutes long so it is perfect for the little ones to watch over and over again. It is a laugh out loud short that the whole family will love. Be sure to tune into Disney + tomorrow to watch this beloved tale come to life again.
Synopsis:
What happened to Olaf within the moments after Elsa created him as she was “letting it go” and building her ice palace, and when Anna and Kristoff first meet him in the forest? And how did Olaf learn to love Summer? The previously untold origins of Olaf, the innocent and insightful, summer-loving snowman who melted hearts in the Academy Award®-winning 2013 Disney animated feature, Frozen, and its acclaimed 2019 sequel, are revealed in the all-new Walt Disney Animation Studios animated short, Once Upon a Snowman. The film follows Olaf’s first steps as he comes to life and searches for his identity in the snowy mountains outside Arendelle. Once Upon a Snowman is directed by Trent Correy (animation supervisor, “Olaf” in Frozen 2) and Dan Abraham (veteran story artist who boarded Olaf’s “When I Am Older” musical sequence in Frozen 2) and produced by Nicole Hearon (associate producer “Frozen 2” and “Moana”) with Peter Del Vecho (producer, “Frozen 2,” “Frozen” and the upcoming “Raya and the Last Dragon”). Olaf is voiced by award-winning actor Josh Gad.
WALT DISNEY ANIMATION STUDIOS’ ANIMATED SHORT, “ONCE UPON A SNOWMAN,” DEBUTS EXCLUSIVELY ON DISNEY+ OCTOBER 23, 2020.
