Thank you Essilor Vision Foundation for sponsoring this post. EVF provides over 500,000 pairs of glasses per year to people in need and works with schools, eye doctors, charities, and corporations to help build vision ambassadors focused on serving their community.
Essilor Vision Foundation has been helping people in need get clear eyesight with a pair of glasses since 2007. In fact, during that time, they’ve provided over 1 million people with glasses to help them better see the world around them. As a mom of three kids – two of them who have glasses – I love the work that they do. It’s a vitally important part of life that often gets overlooked when organizations work to help those in need. Essilor Vision Foundation understands how important it is for those without disposable income to get glasses. Frankly, if you don’t have a high income and/or insurance, it can be next to impossible to afford vision correction.
The Dilemma of Vision for Those in Need
1 in 4 children in the U.S. has a vision problem that affects their ability to learn. That’s 25% of the U.S. child population! It’s an invisible problem that is one of the most overlooked factors that impacts a child’s ability to learn in school and in life. As a dentist who works in a health center for the underserved, I see this problem almost daily. Squinting, leaning forward, or simply decreased comprehension of written words are all a common occurrence at the health center.
Nearly one in four parents can’t afford a full vision exam for their kids, and it breaks my heart to know that these children’s parents don’t have the ability to simply go and get eye correction for their children the way many of us can. The way I can. It’s so easy to take something as simple as our eyesight for granted, even when it’s impaired. After all, all I had to do when I noticed my kids squinting a little was take them in for a checkup, get their prescription, order their glasses, and they were good to go. It’s that easy for so many of us, but for so many others, it’s an impossibility.
Essilor Vision Foundation is Committed to Better Eyesight for the Underserved
For 12 years, Essilor Vision Foundation has been helping families in need by providing glasses to their children. No child or their family ever receives a bill for vision exams or glasses from the foundation. Rather, they ask for donations from the public – from people like you and me who have always been able to head over to our local eye doctor and simply get the help we need for ourselves and our children.
Help Make Better Vision a Reality for Children in Need
Essilor Vision Foundation wants to continue their work to help children receive the eye correction that they need. They want to continue and expand. However, they need our help to do it. With so many blessings in our daily lives, let’s pay it forward and help children in need to receive glasses that they would otherwise never get. We take our vision for granted, but so many others don’t.
Please join me in helping children get the vision correction they need and donate to Essilor Vision Foundation today.
