Considering all the tasks a mom has to do, it may not be surprising that according to new survey of 1,000 moms commissioned by H&R Block, 2 in 5 (42%) mothers feel overwhelmed during tax season. In fact, one-third (33%) of moms surveyed would rather watch their child’s favorite show on repeat for a week if it meant not having to prepare their tax return.
When it comes to the process of filing their taxes, 34% of moms consider potentially owing money on their tax return as the largest source of anxiety. I had the chance to interview Lynn and it was very informative to learn more about taxes.

- What did the survey reveal about how moms feel about tax season?
It is important to not only understand the tax code but also how do our clients feel about it. When they surveyed moms, 4/10 moms were really overwhelmed by tax season. Some tips Lynn gave me for moms to make it as easy as possible include a. That there is a child tax credit, for those under 17. b. The standard deduction for every filling status this year is nearly doubled.
2. When it comes to the process of filing their taxes, what do moms consider the top sources of anxiety?
Certainly the process itself of filling the taxes with getting documentation and such. H&R Block wants to make it as easy as possible. They have the HRBlock checklist website to help out and be your tax consult. Besides tax documentation consumers also need their EIN of daycare and social security number.
3. What tax preparation tips, do you have for busy moms that still need to file their taxes?
They offer more ways of help and certain type of help based on needs. The are online or you can chat with a tax professional from your couch. You can also visit your local H+R Block Office to speak to the tax experts. They are always there to help you. 150 million file and over 90 million ask for help so you are definitely not alone.
4. What advice do you give to moms to help avoid surprises at tax time?
They offer upfront transparent pricing for tax season and how much it costs from the beginning. They also have a shopping cart so there is no surprise. The bookkeeping services are truly second to none.
