Summer has officially arrived, and one of my all-time favorite places to visit during this time of year is Boston. With its rich history, bustling neighborhoods, and beautiful coastal landscapes, it’s a perfect place to take your family on vacation.
While in Boston recently, we discovered a website called, MapAround, which is a search engine for finding local events in the area. This was perfect for us, as it even has a “Kids & Family” category. Once we started searching, we had no idea how many events were happening around us every single night. From concerts to comedy shows, movie nights to boat cruises, farmers’ markets and festivals, there is an endless variety of events for the whole family.
Here’s a few events that we liked best:
Free Friday Flicks is one of Boston’s favorite summertime traditions! Every Friday night around sundown, families and friends gather at DCR’s Hatch Shell along the Charles River to watch a movie. All you need are your own chairs, a cozy blanket and of course, some snacks. There are even fun games and prizes for the kids. This was a perfect way to end a long week.
Want to engage your children’s minds without all that screen time? No worries. The ReadBoston StoryMobile visits twelve Boston Public Library locations once a week for six weeks. During each event, kids will enjoy fun storytelling and free books! It’s a great way to encourage reading and make the library a fun place to visit.
Have a sitter and want to take a night off from the kids? I get it. For those of you who’d rather be enjoying a refreshing happy hour, Boston has an answer. The North End hosts a free wine tasting at the Wine Bottega every second Friday of the month between 5pm and 8pm. It’s an amazing way to unwind with your spouse or friends.
So if you’re traveling to Boston this summer and looking for things to do, don’t forget to check out MapAround, the largest search engine for local events and deals in the area.
