Review of The Penguins of Madagascar: Operation Blowhole!

So, I am going to be honest. I have never watched any of the Madagascar movies since my children are still on the young age scale.  I have  heard so much about them since my nephews are huge Madagascar fans and they always rave about the movies.

When I got the chance to review the new Madascar movie, The Penguins of Madascar: Operation Blowhole I was very excited. Hayley is obsessed with penguins since she was a small girl so I knew that the movie would go over so well. I was definitely right.

Synopsis:  Neil Patrick Harris stars as Dr. Blowhole in the complete Blowhole story from the Emmy Award-winning DreamWorks Animation and Nickelodeon series, The Penguins of Madagascar. In this three-part saga, Skipper and the Penguins face off against their sinister nemesis and must put a stop to his diabolical plans for revenge… and more revenge. It’s a super-spy spoof of Penguins proportions!

My thoughts: It is always a success when Hayley sits through an entire movie. This movie is 73 minutes and I don’t think she got up once. It helped that there were short intervals of 20 minutes which helps the little ones with short attention spans. However, in her case, she never stopped watching and wanted to watch more when it ended. While I know she truly doesn’t understand much about the action scenes, it kept her glued. Some scenes were truly funny which brought us all to tears.  My husband watched it with us and was really into it, which comes as a surprise since he doesn’t like to sit through most kids movies. The musical numbers were a hit too. She was up and dancing for most of the movie. It is really cute to see Hayley shake her booty to the songs.

The next day, Hayley asked to watch it again. It was a hit! We can’t wait to continue to watch this movie in our rotating movie schedule. We also will be checking out the series on Nick. If you are looking for a cute gift for those kids in your life, look no further than The Penguins of Madagascar: Operation Blowhole.
