INTERVIEW WITH LUKE YOUNGBLOOD + KIMIKO GLENN:
1. How excited when you heard Baby Shark was gettting it’s own movie?
They both said it was about time that happened. They are so excited about the movie but equally excited about the music in the movie. There is also a ton of new characters which is awesome for the viewer. The evolution of the new characters will be exciting. There are also great themes in this movie.
2. What is your favorite musical number?
They said they are all so fun and visceral. Swimming through is one of Kimiko’s favorite and Luke said it was Peak Friendship, which is where they begin the movie. The connection between the characters is seen throughout this song and brings him so much joy.
3. Do you have a favorite part of each of you in the film?
Kimiko said so many come to mind but the argument scene between William and baby was such a turning point. From a fun perspective, she loves when the K pop group comes in. Luke said his favorite is the argument scene too as it breaks his heart. The scene felt very real to him and there will be many kids/adults who connect with that moment.
4. Do you have preference if you enjoy theater or voice acting?
Kimiko said you use elements of both but they are so different. With voiceover you get to make it your absolute own. It is all the inner stuff and your heart/sole of the part. With on camera, you also get similar experiences. Luke is loving his voiceover journey as all the characters are all so different from each other. When on camera, it is hard to play all the range of characters. He also loves that you don’t to have to do hair and makeup.
5. What is next for Baby Shark?
They said they can’t say much at this time but there are some things that they have been working on.
