Technology has come such a long way over the last several decades. Back in my day we didn’t have dozens of gaming consoles to choose from, cell phones were indestructible brick designs by one or two companies, and the internet was just a baby. Seeing how far we’ve come in the innovation of tech really is so mind-blowing! It’s like everywhere you look there’s a new gadget just exploding onto the market, ready to blow the minds of us “old” folks.
One example, from my childhood, are calculators. I partnered up with Casio recently to do a review for their FX-CG500 PRIZM and when it arrived I was without words in my astonishment. When I was growing up we were still rocking the old TI-32 models: no frills, no touch screens or anything of the sort that made them fancy. Heck, they still ran off of solar batteries! We always knew things were about to get serious when the teacher brought out the huge box that housed those bad boys.
The PRIZM, however, is on a totally different level. Not only is it completely up to date in the world of technology but despite all of its upgrades and fancy features, it’s also surprisingly user-friendly. Unlike a lot of older models, the FX-CG500 closely resembles the look of a modern day cell phone, with a large sleek touchscreen and soft keyboard buttons that don’t stick and are easy to use for navigating all of the nifty features.
With the included stylus the PRIZM makes it easy for students and parents alike to use drag and drop capabilities to quickly pull information from one representation to another. Again, much like the design of these modern cell phones we all utilize on a daily basis. I’ve been blown away by this SAT/AP approved math machine. It really is in a class all in its own.
Included features you won’t want to miss include:
- Color link for graphs, charts and spreadsheets
- Advanced CAS (Computer Algebra System) for symbolic computation
- Built-in graphic conic sections
- USB to Computer connectivity
