Hands down one of the greatest weekends I can remember in a very long time was when my mom and I took a trip to the Poconos to visit one of the best spas in the Poconos, The Lodge at Woodloch this past June. There is actually no way I can describe the beauty and tranquility of this spa (without an actual visit) but hopefully this will give you a glimpse into it and make you want to do a mom/daughter get away or a friends getaway in the near future at The Lodge at Woodloch.
*I was invited to a weekend get away to visit one of the best spas in the Poconos, The Lodge at Woodloch. The Lodge at Woodloch provided spa treatments, food, and hotel for the weekend. All opinions are my own and not swayed by outside sources.*
Poconos spa resort-The Lodge at Woodloch
Early June, my mother and I headed to the Poconos spa resort, The Lodge at Woodloch. I knew how wonderful Woodloch was because we visited Woodloch Resort with the family in the fall of 2017, but honestly both visits tremendously exceeded my expectations. Upon arriving at the Lodge of Woodloch on a Friday afternoon, we were greeted by the lovely receptionist and given a tour of the grounds. What sets the Lodge of Woodloch apart as one of the best spas in the Poconos, is not only do they have outstanding treatment rooms but the nature aspect of this spa blew my expectations out of the water. Taking a small tour of the outside properties, you can tell that Woodloch tries and succeeds to make this experience one where you forget about all your worries and just enjoy what is in front of you.
After we checked in, my mom and I looked over the schedule. When you visit The Lodge at Woodloch (similarly to the Woodloch Resort) you get a full itinerary each day of all the activities that you could partake in each day. Every single hour there are multiple talks, walks, mediation, activity classes, that you can choose. That first day since it was getting late, we decided we would do some outdoor walking and kayaking before dinner.
We decided to check out the scenic hiking trails and then joined in with a guided tour where we ended up seeing bees cultivating, beautiful gardens, a farm to table outdoor set, and fabulous outdoor scenery.
After this, we decided to do their outdoor nighttime kayaking on their own private 15 acre lake. This area is a natural habitat for Osprey, Bald Eagles, and Great Blue Heron, so it was perfect to bird watch, as well as listen to the tour guide tell us all about the habitant and animals that reside in the area. It was a 40 minute or so guided tour, and then my mom and I were given free reign to enjoy kayaking on our own. The tour was so wonderful and since my mom was a first timer, they really gave her the confidence to get on the water and have a great time.
The Food at The Lodge at Woodloch
After some exercise and showering, it was time to sit down to our first meal of the weekend, dinner, at the Lodge at Woodloch. I will say that the food at Woodloch was some of the best I have ever had, like ever! The first night I got a fish that melted in my mouth and my mom had an equally tasty beef fish. Each meal you sit down to, you have the choice of an appetizer, entree, and desert. Also included is fresh fruit/cereal station for breakfast and a salad bar for lunch.
TREE restaurant is where you will have your meals. Breakfast is served 7-930 am, lunch is served 11:30-2 pm, and dinner is served 530-830 pm. They require your dinner reservations but breakfast/lunch you can walk in at any hour in the time frame. When you stay at The Lodge at Woodloch, these meals are included. Depending on when you arrive for your first day, you will either end with breakfast or lunch on your last day.
Every single meal we had was better than the one before, if that is even possible! The very first thing we remarked on our ride home was that the meals were truly outstanding. There was not one meal that disappointed. All the food was so fresh too, as they grow food right on premise or they get it from local farms.
We also did the chocolate/wine pairing event during the weekend which was a nominal fee, but well worth it. The wine sommelier was well versed in all the pairings and I actually ordered a few wines that she recommended.
The Spa at The Lodge at Woodloch
The remainder of our days were spent at the spa or doing exercise classes. Being a spa regular at some of our local spas, I know what constitutes a good massage, facial, pedicure, etc. I will say that hands down some of the best spa treatments I have ever had were at The Spa at The Lodge at Woodloch. The services were hands down the most relaxing and wonderful I have had yet to experience.
During my stay, I did the Lodge Massage (my mom also did this treatment), the Blues Be Gone treatment, and a soothing body wrap. When you go to a spa the main thing most of us care about is the treatments, and I can tell you now that you will absolutely love all of them! From start to finish, the masseuses all knew what they were doing and catered to the parts of my body that I had aches and pains. The saddest part of the trip was when I finished my last treatment because I wanted more!
