I’m notoriously hard to wake up in the mornings. It seems like over the years I’ve tried everything in an effort to make getting up with my morning alarm easier. Earlier bed times, earlier wake up times, alarm clocks with all the bells and whistles, etc. I’m not a heavy sleeper per say but it is tough to rouse me again after I’ve fallen asleep and I put off getting out of bed as long as I possibly can. I always utilize my snooze button as many times as I can get away with it, but it doesn’t work. To put it simply, I dread having to get out of bed in the morning, no matter how early or late I set my alarm for.

My latest attempt at waking myself up in a way that wouldn’t set off my grouch factor and that would make it as gentle as possible, was using the sweetest, most angelic ringtone I could find and after a few weeks I hate it much as every other effort I’ve made. When I was given the opportunity partner with Phillips to test out and review one of their Wake Up Lights, I was a little skeptical at first. If nothing else I’ve tried hadn’t worked, I doubted their product would.
As it turns out, I was pleasantly surprised. The Wake Up Light was created and designed to mimic the natural progression of the sunrise. It utilizes a unique combination of light therapy and sound to wake the user in a way that is both natural and gentle, unlike the jarring and abrupt blare of alarms. The Wake Up Light mimics the suns natural light, gradually increasing in a soft progression of soft morning red through orange, gradually filling your bedroom with a bright, sunshiney glow. This process stimulates your body to wake up naturally and without the fuss, frustration and intrusion you’re used to from your phone or alarm system.
One of the features I love about the Wake Up Light is that it comes with a setting that allows you to attach music to your morning wake up routine. It comes with a list of 5 different sounds to choose from, and gradually increases in volume to your selected noise level. This process works over the course of an minute and a half, waking you slowly and gently. The included sounds are: Bird Song, Birds in the Forest, Zen Garden, Gentle Piano and Seaside sounds. Of course, if you don’t like any of those, you can also set your alarm to wake you up to your favorite radio station too, thanks to its FM radio feature.
With a self adjusting feature that automatically dims as darkness falls and the ability to allow you to snooze at any time, the Wake Up Light is a multi-functional wake up tool that will change the way you wake up in the morning. No more digging in your heels about getting up (like me) and definitely no more harsh wake up calls. 92% of its users find that it makes it easier to get out of bed in the mornings and I find myself wholeheartedly agreeing with them!
