Reading with my kids has always been one my favorite activities, whether it is a book for school or just for fun it is a great way to expand and grow their imaginations. This year, on October 3rd, we will join people across the country and read this year’s book, Otis, by Loren Long in an effort to support Jumpstart’s ongoing mission to work toward the day that every child in America enters Kindergarten prepared to succeed!
Hayley, Zane and I sat down a couple nights ago during a thunderstorm and read Otis together. We loved this heartwarming story about a very special tractor and his friend the calf. On October 3rd we will read Otistogether again, to beat the world record of 2.3 Million people who read the same book on the same day, that was set in 2012 by Jumpstart’s Read for the Record. Since 2006, the Jumpstart campaign has raised more than $8 million dollars for early education programs. Join me and my kids this year and take the “Pledge to Read” .

We’ve been reading at bedtime every night since Sawyer was about 4 months old. He loves to look at books – I think he’d like Otis too!
