Let me start out by saying, I was one of those many people who waited online for the first and second Spider-Man movies. So when I heard that they were making a third film, entitled The Amazing Spider-Man and I was invited to a special press release for the movie, I was doing cartwheels. I arrived at the theatre on Monday night, July 2nd for the The Amazing Spider-Man in 3D at our local IMAX!
This movie was AMAZING!!! I could go on and on about how good the graphics, plot, and characters were, but before I do so, let me give you a small synopsis. The new Spider-Man movie focuses on a different plot involving the ever popular Peter Parker. In the Amazing Spider-Man, Peter Park, who is played by the unfathomable Andrew Garfield (Social Network) is a high schooler who is abandoned by his parents and left to be raised by his Uncle Ben, played by Martin Sheen, and his aunt, played by Sally Field. Along the way to discover some information about his parents disappearance, he ends up being bit by a spider and turning into Spider-Man. After he does, he witnesses the cold blooded killing of his beloved Uncle Ben by an arm robber. Spider-Man promises to gain vengeance and goes on a long whirlwind project to make sure he finds the killer. He also, while trying to solve his parents disappearance, is lead to Oscorp, where his father’s former business partner, Dr. Curt Connors, played by Rihys Ifans, works. Spider-Man quickly learns that his former business partner, is transitioning himself to the alter-ego, The Lizard, that Spider-Man must stop before destruction happens. Along the way, of all the action, Peter-Parker find loves his high school crush, Gwen Stacey, played by Emma Stone. Their love is so true onstage, as much as it is visible between the real-life lovebirds off-screen.
The special effects in this movie were so unbelievably good! I was off my seat the whole time watching it is 3D. I can assure you though, if you chose to watch it non 3D, it will still be fantastic! It is energetic, exciting, and filled with superb acting by a stellar cast. Hint: I will also suggest you wait till after the credits of the movie to see the closing scene. I almost left and was glad I didn’t!

*I attended an advanced screening of The Amazing Spider Man. As always, all my thought are my own and not swayed by outside sources.
