Rockboard Scooter Review/Giveaway!

I am so excited to present my review today as they are the 2012 recipients of the Outdoor Toy of the Year at the TOTY awards: Rockboard Scooters! When I first heard about these scooters, I was thinking it was probably your next-store, average scooter. I really could have not been more wrong! The Rockboard Scooter really rocks!

So, you might be asking what is a Rockboard Scooter and what is the difference between this scooter and the other scooters on the market. Well, the Rockboard Scooters offers the versatility of a shredding scooter with the practicality of a kick model. It is 2 scooters in 1, combing in the best of both worlds! Each scooter is equipped with advanced Rockboard Propulsion Technology which features a revolutionary steel power drive chain that tears up the pavement and keeps kids active and entertained with every up-and-down propel. If your kids want a much casual ride, kids can simply adjust the two-positioning locking joint and the Rockboard turns into a low-profile kick scooter for cruising. The Rockboard scooter is built to last, with an ultra-strong steel box frame and front fork, die-cast aluminum deck, and a rear spring enhanced suspension that creates the smoothest ride on unforgiving surfaces.

Rockboard Scooter makes two different types of scooters: the original and the mini. We decided to test out the mini because my kids are both very young. When the box arrived, I think my husband was more excited than my daughter. He took it out of the box and much to our surprise, it was already assembled! Score! The only thing we needed to do was hook the two handlepieces together and turn the adjustment knob counterclockwise until the front wheel and handlebars rotated.  Voila, we were all set!

 

When we got the mini, I thought that it would be an excellent outdoor toy for Hayley. Truth be told, my husband and I are using it more than her right now. We can’t stop playing around with it. She is only three and slightly young to grasp the balancing concept. She does try really hard but we told her that in another year, the toy will be all hers and Daddy/Mommy will have to retire it to her. Here she is playing inside. Note, we were not really riding when these pictures were taken- if we were, a helmet would have been placed as Rockboard recommends.

As for me, I thoroughly enjoy using the scooter. It took me a second of wobbling around before I really got the hang of it but then I was good to go. I tried the Rockboard scooter both ways by first securing into “Rockboarding mode” and then converting the “Rockboarding mode” to kick scooter. I prefer the traditional “Rockboarding mode”, however, my husband loved the kick scooter aspect. I guess it comes down to personal choice. It was extremely easy to go from one mode to the next. A simple turn of the adjustment knob and pushing down on the rear part of the scooter, and you are ready to go! I absolutely love the divisibility of the Rockboard Scooter.

As I said before, Rockboard made the original scooter and then developed the mini scooter.

Some information about the Original Scooter: The versatile Rockboard Scooter can be used for cruising as a kick scooter or unleashed to pick up the pace with its advanced Rockboard Propulsion technology. The faster kids rock up-and-down, the faster it goes! After kids leave other riders in the dust, the Rockboard Scooter can be folded up for easy storage and transportation, so kids can take their ride anywhere. The Original Rockboard Scooter stands at an adjustable handlebar height of 48 inches and weighs in at 20.8 pounds. It is available in white, orange, blue, and pink finishes. The Original can hold up to 200 lbs.

The Mini Scooter is the scaled down version with the same kick scooter capabilities and advanced Rockboard Propulsion Technology. The Mini can be folded up for easy storage and transportation, so kids can take their ride anywhere. The Mini Rockboard Scooter stands at an adjustable height of 38.5 inches and weighs in at 13.2 pounds. It is available in white, blue, and pink finishes. The Mini can hold up to 90 lbs.

The Rockboard Scooter not only will provide hours of fun, but will allow your kids, as well as yourself, to have good exercise. Now that summer is upon us, I can’t wait to take my Rockboard Scooter around the block. All the kids will be jealous!

Buy it: You can buy the Rockboard Scooter at Target, Toys R’Us, Amazon, and other fine retailers. The mini scooter is for ages 5 and up and retails for $159.99 and the original scooter is $199.99 and in intended for ages 8 and up.

    I have a range of kids so I think that I would just go for the original and they can grow into it or hand it down. If the scooter can last that long with them. My children are so hard on their toys. I really look for things that can hold up well with 4 boys.
