I have always been a horse lover and equestrian fan, but never had the chance to take it up as a sport. I do love riding horses. I had the opportunity to ride horses when growing up a few times at summer camp or birthday parties, and always wanted to do it more. Now as an adult I live down the street from a beautiful horse farm and stables, and every time I drive by and watch the equestrians on their horses I think about taking lessons. O.K., I’ll admit that a good part of it is the outfit. I love the equestrian look, and think I would look great strutting around in chaps and riding boots, and be able to tell people I am legitimately dressed that way for my riding lessons.
The other reason I have come to admire the sport is that I feel like it is such an empowering sport for girls and women. I would love for my daughter to take it up when she is old enough, especially considering our proximity to the equestrian center down the street. I decided to look into lessons for myself to start with and when I began to get my gear, (yes, and that cute outfit) I was shocked by how expensive the sport can be. Hmmm, maybe that’s why my parents never encouraged it when I was a kid! In any case, you know I know how to hunt down the best prices for most things and this was no different.
I found a there are discount places to buy equestrian gear like Equestrianclearance, and other ways not to break the bank. I found cute riding ankle boots that were 1/3 rd the cost because they were vinyl instead of leather but look exactly the same. I figure when I get my daughter started she won’t necessarily need the top of the line getup until I know how much she will be to riding. I also found great boots and riding gear on consignment for when she begins to ride, kids grow so quickly; I could see that being a great way to go. As for me, I got my chaps from equestrianclearance as well as the rest of my outfit. I know my own feet will not grow, so I found great riding boots I will be able to wear for other than riding as well. So if you see me around town looking like an equestrian, I just may be on my way to my riding lessons!

I love horses. My grandfather bred Clydesdales and Shires, and I have such great memories of his ranch! I’ve actually considered “renting” a horse from a local ranch – it’s actually quite affordable (considering the price of buying your own!)

My sister just started riding lessons and absolutely loves it! Since we live in the city it’s hard to think of getting our kids involved in activities like this. But I’d definitely enjoy riding with my kids.

I have never ridden but my daughter did for awhile. I was suprised how expensive everything associated with the sport was. I am sure that equestrianclearace will be well appreciated by those who ride.

I’m actually a bit of a chicken when it comes to horseback riding, but I’m impressed by those who do it.

That is an extremely expensive sport so anything you can do to cut costs is a good thing. I’m glad you found a place to save money like that!

My daughter has always wanted to get into horse back riding. My cousins had them growing up but I only rode them occasionally. I think it would be an awesome sport!

I like horses but I appreciate them from afar. I’ve went horseback riding a few years ago and it was a lot of fun. I guess big, kicking animals make me nervous. :O
